Project Description
Green Plans are designed to support community facility management teams and groups to improve facilities and environmental know-how so that the facility can be used to its full potential; increasing viability and sustainability in the long-term.

The project allows the effective integration of business principles with sustainable development with a focus on community-based energy and resource efficiency, recycling and re-use.
Objectives
- Identify local brown and Greenfield sites for refurbishment and re-development
- Identify premises and community facilities for refurbishment and to increase utilisation and diversification
- Provide technical support to undertake baseline reviews of sites and premises for the formulation of green plans which against a corporate or recognised standard

- Develop a green plan for settlements/clusters around facilities and resources
- Facilitate links between local networks, individuals and structures to maximise the impact of green plans.

Activities:
- community engagement initiatives that increase ownership of local green plans
- input to appropriate Communities First reports and mechanisms relating to the Vision Framework or Local Action Plans as they are developed.
- support to bring together on a spatial basis local environmental action plans
- network links with Local Authority town centre, settlement plans with local plans
- Identification of pre-procurement activities
- Green mapping exercises and baseline reviews
- Community Life Grants (key fund activity)
- Technical support and professional services to produce plans and prepare them for next stage development as appropriate
